Chapter 1: The Shift Towards Centralization

In late 2021, I penned an article discussing the interplay between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain technology. I discovered that the convergence of these two domains was more imminent than I had anticipated.

The current landscape of Web2 is steering us towards a future characterized by technological centralization. Historically, our perceptions shaped our beliefs; however, the Enlightenment allowed us to uncover the illusions imposed by nature. Testing our assumptions led us to think we had mastered natural principles, yet we failed to improve the world as significantly as we hoped.

Today, we find ourselves in a reality where corporations possess more information about us than we do ourselves. These entities can dictate our beliefs without our awareness. The ingenious tool that companies like Google have developed is AI.

If AI can emulate human thought processes, it has the potential to usurp our roles! Given that companies gather extensive data about us through their complimentary services, they could replace us one day without our knowledge.

While there are countless conspiracy theories regarding Google's potential secret developments, the notion of AI achieving true consciousness is… highly unlikely. If that were to occur, it would mean that Google has effectively rendered humanity less intelligent!

The most sophisticated AI today, such as Tesla's Autopilot, struggles to differentiate between humans and other moving objects while driving. The reliance on technology can diminish our cognitive abilities, stripping away our unique capacity to think.

Blockchain, in contrast, represents the future of decentralization. We require a peer-to-peer system to reclaim our consciousness and break free from Web2's chains.

This technology empowers individuals to critically evaluate information. Consider today's media landscape: information is heavily curated to fit predetermined narratives, leaving little room for surprises. News today is merely a selection of data filtered specifically for your consumption.

A decentralized system is necessary to ensure that you receive unfiltered information, sparking your imagination and creativity. Web2 fears blockchain due to its inherent fragility.

They attempt to imitate blockchain through the establishment of a centralized node system—social media networks. This model expands outward from a single point, but the critical flaw lies in its reliance on technology, which is prone to a single point of failure.

Moreover, they cannot escape the economic principle of diminishing returns. Consequently, we will witness a sluggish growth in Web2, as it demands increasing amounts of data with marginal advancements through AI, which operates in a deterministic manner devoid of randomness.

In Web2, the assumption was that everyone lacked understanding, leading to one-size-fits-all solutions. In contrast, Web3 envisions a community where everyone contributes to problem-solving collaboratively.
