Am I alone in being inundated with advertisements promoting entrepreneurship or starting a home-based business? You might see these ads and wonder, “Who would fall for this?”
Well, that’s me. I’m the target demographic, and the algorithms have figured it out. I've experimented with a few ideas and have a list of others that intrigue me. Fortunately, I haven’t invested much money in most of them.
About seven months ago, I left my unsatisfying job to seek something more rewarding. I was tired of the standard 9-to-5 grind, the indecision about remote work, and the failure of my company to deliver on its promises to both employees and clients.
There's no turning back now.
My goal is to carve out a path to work for myself full-time, focusing on helping others. I want to engage in activities that allow me to spend quality time with friends, family, my cat, and travel. I refuse to take on work that causes me sleepless nights filled with guilt or anxiety.
To achieve this, I’m testing various ventures to find what fits best. So far, I’ve earned approximately $500-$600 across different projects. I recognize that building a business requires time, and constantly switching projects may hinder my chances of success. I’m fully aware of this.
However, I still haven’t pinpointed my passion. With about five months remaining in my one-year timeframe to discover it, I’ve decided to document my progress and projects.
If you’re also exploring the solopreneur lifestyle but haven’t found your niche, feel free to follow my journey. I hope my winding path can offer you some insights.
Are you intrigued by some of these money-making opportunities you've been hearing about? Are they too good to be true? How long does it take to see results? What level of investment is required? How complicated are they?
Though I’m eager to explore these ventures, I maintain a skeptical outlook. I often suspect there’s a hidden catch or that the process is more challenging than advertised. I’m not an expert in any of these fields; I’m in my 40s with basic skills and not particularly tech-savvy. I prefer not to spend hours figuring things out.
My initial endeavor, which sparked this journey, was in copywriting. The course "Write Your Way to Freedom" piqued my interest and motivated me to leave my job. The name may sound cliché, but Sarah Turner has created something remarkable, and I have great admiration for her. She is a copywriter who has fostered a supportive community among aspiring copywriters. I will be sharing more insights about copywriting and this course in future blogs.
