Exploring Writing Without Committing Full-Time

Chapter 1: The Shift in Writing Perspectives
Recently, I've noticed a trend where numerous articles emphasize transforming writing into a full-time occupation. There seems to be a decline in discussions surrounding the enhancement of writing skills or practical strategies for generating story ideas. My aim is to write daily and keep things straightforward. As someone still finding their footing, I don't have a specific "niche" yet and am exploring various topics.
Section 1.1: The Email List Dilemma
It appears that creating an email list is now all the rage. However, this adds another layer of complexity to my writing, diverting time away from actual content creation. I find myself needing to continuously update this list while ensuring I don't have any duplicate entries. Instead, I offer readers the option to subscribe to Medium's emails at the end of my articles. Managing my own list involves crafting emails for subscribers, which can feel overwhelming.
Many individuals I know are already inundated with emails. While I see the value in using a list for promoting my latest pieces, I don't want to contribute to the clutter of their inboxes. With so many messages vying for attention, how can I ensure my emails stand out?
Section 1.2: Balancing Time and Passion
I acknowledge that I am not a professional writer, and I don't seek a full-time income from my writing endeavors. My primary goal is to enjoy writing as a new journey. That said, I would gladly welcome any income that comes my way as a result of my writing. An extra bit of cash would be beneficial for supplementing my social security, though it’s not my main objective.
I have other projects in mind, including the development of a YouTube channel aimed at assisting people with everyday computer tasks. This will often intersect with my writing. I've already penned a few articles on how to use technology to enhance writing.
Currently, I facilitate Zoom meetings for a company a few days each week, but this arrangement won't last indefinitely. Therefore, I’m exploring additional income opportunities, such as website testing, which I can do alongside my writing.
Chapter 2: Striking a Balance Between Enjoyment and Work
In the video titled "How I Write When I Don't Want to Write," the creator shares strategies for overcoming writer's block and maintaining motivation. This discussion aligns with my desire to keep writing enjoyable while recognizing the effort it requires. To me, the joy of storytelling and creating videos, along with website testing, makes for a fulfilling day.
Once I establish a routine, these varied tasks can complement each other. For instance, I can write about my YouTube journey or website testing experiences, and create videos that demonstrate my writing process or offer tutorials on website testing. The best part is that I can perform two of these activities from anywhere, without being confined to my home office.
In the second video, "Write with a Day Job: Make Money While Writing," the speaker discusses how to balance a writing career with a full-time job, providing valuable insights for those of us who are pursuing writing alongside other commitments.
