Chapter 1: Introduction to Vanguard Investments

Are you looking to outpace the current inflation crisis? Investing, particularly in stocks, index funds, and ETFs, is a viable solution. I plan to write another article that dives deeper into these investment avenues.

Please note that I am not a financial advisor. The information provided here is purely for informational purposes, so please use it as you see fit.

I personally utilize two investment platforms: Vanguard UK and the Free Trade app. In this article, I will highlight the ten top-performing funds from the past year.

Section 1.1: Top 10 Vanguard Funds

  1. 10th: FTSE All-World High Dividend Yield UCITS ETF

    Return: 12.38%

This fund offers solid dividends and shows promising growth potential.

  2. 9th: Life Strategy 100%

    Return: 12.67%

Arguably the best Life Strategy fund, it contains no bonds and is suitable for retirement portfolios.

  3. 8th: FTSE Developed Europe ex UK UCITS ETF

    Return: 12.69%

Provides excellent exposure to European markets, excluding the UK.

  4. 7th: FTSE North America UCITS ETF

    Return: 14.30%

A major ETF focusing on the USA and other North American companies.

  5. 6th: FTSE Developed World ex-U.K. Equity

    Return: 14.42%

This fund encompasses companies from various developed nations, excluding the UK.

  6. 5th: FTSE Dev Europe ETF

    Return: 15%

An ETF focused on developed European nations, including the UK.

  7. 4th: S&P 500 UCITS ETF

    Return: 16.07%

A favorite of Warren Buffett, this fund covers the top 500 US companies and has minimal fees of just 0.07% annually.

  8. 3rd: US Equity Index Fund

    Return: 16.31%

This fund offers extensive coverage of American companies, yielding similar returns to the S&P 500.

  9. 2nd: FTSE 100 ETF

    Return: 19.02%

Mirroring the S&P 500, this fund includes the top UK companies. Although it faced a slowdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is now recovering well.

  10. 1st: Global Equity Income Fund

    Return: 20.76%

This fund has unexpectedly risen to the top after the January market crash, boasting a diverse global portfolio.

Section 1.2: Conclusion

Despite the market's current fluctuations, there are still opportunities to generate returns. Remember, investing is a long-term game, and markets will experience both highs and lows. Historically, the global economy tends to grow over time, so if you have been considering entering the investment space, now might be an ideal time.

If you have over £600 to invest, I recommend using Vanguard. For smaller amounts, Free Trade is a commendable choice, as they do not charge commission aside from standard trading fees.
