Netherlands to Luxembourg on a Moped — An Adventurous Journey

Chapter 1: A Quest for Shelter
On the 28th of March, I found myself in a tight spot, needing to check out of my hostel without any idea of where I’d be staying that night. I was in a quaint little town called Malmedy in Belgium, searching for my next accommodation. By 8 AM, I made the decision to head to Vianden, Luxembourg, which was about 80 kilometers away. Not too daunting, I thought.
The journey from the Netherlands to Malmedy was a smooth 170 kilometers, so I assumed this 80-kilometer trek would be a breeze. However, it turned out to be quite the challenge! The weather was dreadful, and I felt as if I might topple off my moped every few minutes due to the fierce winds. Nonetheless, I pressed on.
I decided to let Google Maps guide my route, but that was a mistake. The moped limited my options to avoid the highways, leading me down desolate paths that brought me into a muddy forest. I really wished I had snapped a photo to show you the conditions, but my primary concern was making it through unscathed.
Eventually, let’s fast forward to my arrival in Vianden, Luxembourg. What a sight! The town is truly enchanting, featuring a stunning castle that adds to its charm.
Today, I have plans to go hiking and capture plenty of photos. I typically record a lot of videos, which is great, although not as useful in this format. Converting them to gifs is an option, but the quality suffers significantly.
If anyone has recommendations for a place to stay around 100 kilometers or so from Vianden, ideally in Germany, I would greatly appreciate it! For now, wishing you all a wonderful day, and don't forget to consider subscribing to my newsletter!
