Motorola has recently introduced an innovative technology that enables wireless charging of smartphones and other electronic devices from a distance of up to 3 meters. Notably, this system operates without the need for a traditional charging pad. This advancement, termed air charging, was showcased in a brief, 30-second video demonstration. The design of the wireless charger resembles a large Wi-Fi router.

When a compatible smartphone approaches, the charging device can automatically identify it and initiate the charging process without any cables or pads. Remarkably, this technology allows for charging multiple devices—up to four smartphones—simultaneously, all while maintaining the wireless charging capability within the same 3-meter range.

Charging at various angles presents no issues for this Motorola innovation, which provides the ability to transfer power even within a 100-degree field of view. This means users aren't confined to placing their devices directly on the charger to receive a boost; they can charge at an angle, enhancing convenience.

Chapter 2: Collaboration with GuRu Wireless

Motorola has partnered with GuRu Wireless, a company renowned for its expertise in developing wireless charging solutions for consumer electronics, gaming consoles, and smart home devices.

This collaboration marks a significant evolution from traditional power transfer methods. GuRu Wireless employs a patented technology known as “Smart Lensing,” which utilizes focused energy beams for efficient power delivery.

Although Motorola has not yet announced a release date or pricing for this revolutionary air charging system, there is anticipation that the initial version will be unveiled soon.

Another important aspect still under wraps is the charging speed of this new technology, as Motorola has yet to provide any details on how quickly it can power a smartphone.
