Navigating Emotions: Insights from Personal Experience

Chapter 1: Understanding Emotional Turmoil
Today, I found myself in an unexpected emotional state. I'm still on a journey to allow my feelings to pass through me instead of evading them, which is my usual response. For anyone who might be struggling, the Panic SOS meditation available on the Calm app has been instrumental for me during moments of anxiety.
Recently, I reached a breaking point. I was overwhelmed with emotions—shouting, crying, and expressing thoughts that were incoherent, ultimately causing harm to those around me. This level of distress is uncommon for me; it takes significant pressure to reach such a point. When I finally did lose control, I noticed that others were quick to judge, pointing out my outburst and labeling me as the villain in the situation.
Dealing with my feelings has always been a challenge, and I've shared this struggle in my writings. However, an important lesson emerged from this experience: it's crucial to manage your emotions before they spiral out of control. My emotional explosion sent me spiraling back into past traumas while trying to salvage a relationship that holds great importance for me.
Instead of allowing my emotions to erupt, I wish I had taken the time to process them beforehand. Although I gained insights from my reaction, it was undoubtedly a negative experience that lingers during conflicts. Even after I forgive myself, there are those who may not extend the same courtesy, harboring resentment in silence. I believe that had I taken the time to articulate my feelings privately, away from distractions, I could have navigated conflict more effectively and reduced its frequency. Admittedly, confronting my emotions can be painful, but the aftermath often proves to be even more challenging.
Trust is fragile, much like glass; once shattered, it can be difficult to repair. No one will truly comprehend the reasons behind my outburst except for me. Thus, attempting to justify my actions later is futile, even if I manage to forgive myself and move forward. The mind wields immense power, and cultivating a peaceful mindset is a complex endeavor—one that I continue to pursue. If you take away anything from my experience, let it be this: learn to manage your emotions before they manage you.
