Three-Day Fasting Journey: Insights from Day Two

Written on

Chapter 1: Introduction to the Fast

If you've been following my journey, you know I've embarked on a three-day fasting experiment—consuming only water, black coffee, and herbal tea. If you're curious about my motivation, check out my earlier article. I successfully completed the first day and entered day two with optimism, eager to see what new challenges and lessons awaited me. Join me on this journey, and for those who prefer visual content, don't forget to check out my vlogs on YouTube and TikTok.

Let’s dive right into it!

Morning Reflection During Fasting

Last night, I stayed up longer than I should have and enjoyed a bit of a sleep-in this morning. Surprisingly, I feel that this extra rest was beneficial for my body. I plan to return to my usual bedtime tonight and wake up early for the final day of my fast. How do I feel upon waking? Surprisingly great! I have a lot of energy, with just a few minor hunger pangs—likely due to dehydration, which dissipate after drinking water. Unlike last night, I don’t feel weak or drained; instead, I feel revitalized. I did take a small portion of my medication (one-sixth of my daily prescription) since I find it hard to stay motivated when I wake up late. I intend to use it sparingly to maintain the integrity of my fasting experiment. I plan to take a walk later to pick up a few items.

Thoughts about food occasionally buzz around my mind like annoying mosquitoes, but I'm resolute in my commitment. I'll check in again soon.

Almost Noon, and I'm feeling fantastic—energized and in a good mood. I feel a sense of tranquility and oddly enjoy this feeling of lightness. I feel empowered, as if I've conquered a fear or challenge. Hunger is not a constant; the body is quite adept at managing it. Given that I’m on the higher end of a healthy weight range, I believe this fasting should not be attempted by those underweight. I have sufficient healthy fat reserves that my body can utilize. The experience brings a euphoric clarity of mind, and physically, I feel lighter than on day one.

The Lightness of Fasting

Just a side note for the brave: I’ve noticed more frequent trips to the bathroom, but it’s fascinating that this continues into day two. I genuinely feel lighter in many aspects.

1:10 PM

Noticing that despite taking only half of my usual ADHD medication, I’m managing quite well. My mind feels clear, and today is progressing much more smoothly than yesterday. I’m curious if day three will be easier or if it will present new challenges. It usually takes three days to acclimate to any situation.

2:55 PM

I’m experiencing a slight dip in energy and some hunger pangs, but overall, I’m doing okay. The sensations come in waves, and it doesn’t take long for me to bounce back.

Afternoon Walk During Fasting

5:30 PM

I decided to take a break from work and walked to the supermarket to grab a few last-minute holiday items. I felt clear-headed, and I believed a walk was a manageable form of exercise for a fasting day. However, the enticing aromas of food were overwhelming! Luckily, I realized that my cravings today weren’t as intense as they were yesterday. After returning home and showering, I did experience the usual afternoon energy slump, which may be sharper due to hunger pangs. I reflect on my ability to maintain a positive spirit throughout this experiment, knowing that there’s only one day left before returning to normal eating. I can handle this challenge because I have a reward in sight. Long-term deprivation isn’t something I can sustain.

I can’t deny that cravings have hit me hard at this moment, dancing around my head. I remind myself these feelings are temporary and will subside as I shift my focus.

9:27 PM

I'm definitely feeling hungry and thinking about food a lot. I’m relieved to know there’s only one day left!
