Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse: A Unique Gaming Device

Chapter 1: An Overview of the Corsair M65
The Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Gaming Mouse is a distinct choice among gaming peripherals. I purchased this mouse several months ago with the intent of reviewing it, but I found myself grappling with its unconventional design. It stands apart from the mainstream offerings that typically feature lightweight designs and familiar shapes.
While the Corsair Sabre caters to current trends with its streamlined build and high-performance components, the M65 seems to belong to a different realm altogether. It embodies a robust, tech-packed experience that feels almost like a throwback in a world increasingly obsessed with sleekness. While I appreciate its uniqueness, it's also clear that this mouse may not suit everyone's preferences.
This review is entirely my own, and I have not received any compensation from Corsair for this evaluation.
Section 1.1: Pricing and Specifications
The M65 Ultra RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse is listed at a retail price of $129.99 (check the official site for details). Its lengthy name includes terms like "FPS" and "Tunable," which I chose to abbreviate. Priced just below the average for high-end mice, its heft and features are noteworthy. This mouse boasts a 26K DPI PixArt sensor, optical switches, a battery life of up to 90 hours on 2.4GHz, and both gyroscopic and accelerometric capabilities. Additionally, it has a secondary Bluetooth option that offers longer battery life but lower performance.

Section 1.2: Build Quality and Design
For those who tire of the industry's obsession with lighter mice, the M65 delivers a substantial feel. At its lightest, it weighs 109g, and with the included weights, it reaches an impressive 128g. Upon unboxing, I quickly added the weights to experience the full effect compared to the thinner mice I've used recently.
The core structure of the mouse is crafted from solid aluminum, and installing the weights involves removing some hefty screws from the bottom. This design not only enhances its durability but also ensures smooth gliding on various surfaces.
The mouse's ergonomic shape makes it suitable for average-sized hands, especially in a palm grip, although the weight may not appeal to users who favor fingertip or claw grips. The internal motion sensors add an exciting dimension to its functionality, allowing for a customizable lift-off distance and unique tilt-based shortcuts.

Section 2.1: Button Feel and Customization
The M65's main buttons feature a fast response time, thanks to Corsair’s “QuickStrike” design. However, I found the button feel inconsistent; while my right button is responsive and snappy, the left button is noticeably louder and feels less refined. This inconsistency can detract from the overall experience, especially for those who prefer quieter clicks.
The side buttons and sniper toggle are well-placed and easily accessible. They are highly customizable through Corsair’s iCUE software, allowing for tailored gaming experiences.
Section 2.2: Coating and Additional Features
Corsair has opted for a rubberized matte finish, which, while comfortable, may not stand the test of time as well as traditional matte coatings. The scroll wheel is pleasing to use, providing distinct feedback while scrolling.
In terms of RGB lighting, expectations may not be met, as the M65 features only one substantial RGB light. This is surprising, considering its name includes "RGB," but it’s mostly obscured during use.
Section 2.3: Battery Life and Connectivity
I have successfully achieved the advertised battery life when using the mouse without lighting. It charges swiftly via USB-C, although I wish a more flexible cable had been included. The compact dongle can be conveniently stored in a magnetic compartment within the mouse.
Overall, this hefty mouse presents a refreshing alternative to the plethora of lighter options available today. If you find its features appealing, I believe you will enjoy using it. Just be aware of the variability in button feel when making your choice.
