Chapter 1: The Coaching Industry Landscape
The coaching sector has experienced substantial growth, now valued at approximately $15 billion. Many individuals have transitioned from traditional office roles to successful coaching careers. However, the journey to success isn’t universal; not every aspiring coach achieves their goals. What must one know to forge a fulfilling and prosperous career in life, wellness, or business coaching?
In our interview series, we engage with seasoned coaches across various specialties who share invaluable strategies for creating a thriving coaching practice. In this edition, we had the opportunity to speak with Angela Ramos from AJC WEALTH. Raised in New York, Angela faced numerous challenges throughout her life. In 2019, after generating over $1 million from her entrepreneurial ventures, she launched her first coaching program aimed at helping others increase their income through e-commerce. Angela, affectionately known as "Coach Angie" by her clients, has turned her passion for assisting others into a successful business.
Thank you for joining us, Angela! Before diving into your insights, could you share your background and what led you to this career?
I'm grateful for the chance to share my journey. My foray into coaching began when I joined my first network marketing company in 2012. After four years of building successful teams, my account was unexpectedly terminated due to what was labeled a "self-marketing error." This incident thrust my family and me into financial hardship, prompting me to take on cleaning jobs and work at Walmart to make ends meet. I realized the limitations of being part of an MLM, which motivated me to start my own venture.
In 2016, inspired by other women successfully launching online businesses, I decided to create my first e-commerce store. With the marketing knowledge I had amassed, I quickly achieved my financial goals, confirming that I was on the right path. Since becoming a full-time coach, I have guided over 3,400 students through my online courses, with many achieving five- to six-figure incomes with their own brands.
Section 1.1: Key Traits for Success
As a successful business leader, which three personal traits do you believe have been pivotal to your achievements? Could you provide examples for each?
I consider myself a visionary, hardworking, and intentional. These traits reflect the reality that entrepreneurship is often misrepresented; it's not as easy as it seems. Unlike traditional jobs where you receive a guaranteed paycheck, business ownership comes with uncertainty.
Being intentional about my vision while working diligently has been crucial for my success. Every day presents challenges, yet I persist through them with a positive mindset. My ambition to become the first multi-millionaire in my family drives me to be purposeful in how I allocate my time and energy.
Section 1.2: The Impact of Habits
How have your habits contributed to your success? Can you share specific success habits that have aided you on your journey?
Habits have been fundamental in reclaiming control over my life. A major habit of mine is writing down goals, which signals to my subconscious their significance. I often say that a goal without a structured plan is merely a wish.
Establishing a daily schedule is another vital habit. As entrepreneurs, we can easily become overwhelmed with tasks, leading to inaction. I recommend identifying the top five priorities each day and committing to them.
Morning rituals like journaling and reading the Bible help me start my day with clarity. Regardless of one’s spiritual beliefs, I find strength and peace in these practices.
Chapter 2: Building Good Habits
Creating beneficial habits is crucial for maintaining a lifestyle focused on achieving goals. For instance, my commitment to fitness and healthy eating enhances my confidence, enabling me to pursue my business objectives with vigor.
To develop good habits, one must reach a point of frustration with their current state. Accountability is essential; if you commit to something, follow through. The initial days of forming a new habit can be tough, but persistence pays off.
The video title is "Going Completely Out-of-Network Overnight and Keeping a Full Schedule" - YouTube.
In this video, Angela discusses her transition to coaching and the importance of building a structured approach to achieve goals.
What are some common errors you see coaches make when starting their businesses, and how can they avoid these pitfalls?
Many new business owners lack structure, clear goals, and a strategic plan. Simply launching a business without preparation is a recipe for failure. It’s essential to invest in your education and be proactive about planning.
I’ve personally spent thousands on books and seminars, understanding that growth requires financial commitment. Being a student of your craft is vital for sustained success.
